Death Care | Mishandling of Human Remains | Los Angeles, California
McNulty v. Hyde Park Mortuary, Inc.
This case involved the mishandling of decedent's remains. After the decedent passed away, her family contacted Hyde Park to arrange funeral services for the decedent. The family requested an "open casket" ceremony. When the family members gathered at the funeral service, they realized that the person inside the casket was not the decedent. In fact, decedent's body was stored in a garage next to the funeral hall without any refrigeration. After litigation was commenced against Hyde Park, a significant monetary settlement was obtained.
