Yasmin | Yaz Attorney
Yasmin Overview
Yasmin is a low dose, combined, contraceptive pill (Ethinyl Estradio and Drosperinone) primarily used for preventing pregnancy. YAZ differs slightly from Yasmin in that it gives 3 more days of low dose birth control hormones. Yasmin was introduced in the US market in 2001 and Yaz in 2006.
How Yasmin Works
Yasmin/Yaz are categorically different from other low dose birth control pills. Yasmin was the first contraceptive pill that contained a progestin hormone called drospirenone. Drosperinone is a synthetic version of the progesterone that body of a woman produces naturally. Other commonly used contraceptive pills that are based on testosterone has the tendency to put on weight and feel bloated. This effect that is remarkably lower with the use of Yaz/Yasmin. The contraceptives prevent ovulation process and initiate other changes associated with menstrual process.

Use of these contraceptives may affect the level of potassium in blood by increasing the risk of hyperkalemia (elevated blood potassium level) and arrhythmias. Users of these contraceptives also face high risk of thromboembolism (blood clots migrating through the venous or arterial system and causing occlusion).
